When I Move...

Assuming the interconnectedness of all, when I move, you move, we move. Then why do most of us act as if our actions bear only on ourselves? When we make a decision, we make that decision for the whole in some form.

I've heard "engaged Buddhism" mentioned a few times on this forum; however, I've yet to look into it. Something made me think of it, when I thought about the above.

Thoughts?

Re: When I Move...

The why and how it all started? I have no idea… but I have a theory…
The supreme consciousness – the creator – can only know itself through itself (which is us) so the increase in consciousness and the doubting of the self and the double guessing is in a way to discover more of itself.. (us). The ‘goal’ if you will, is to realize that we are one… that’s why so many of the religions focus on it.. the one.. the creator… yoga, Buddhism, tao… seems to me all the same.. but then!!! What do we do?
We put incredible importance upon our interpretations of what is happening.. and then.. we have a problem…
Problems under the banner of my religion against yours, my national identy against yours… my belief system against yours…
the fact that we do it…. I call it the grasping of stones…
Understanding its all a big ‘dream’ is being in the black pit…

Re: When I Move...

I truly belive that unless we can see understand the ramifications of an interdependent world, that is, until we can see things from an "Indra's Net perspective", we may not survive the impeding ecological crisis.

It seems to me that all Buddhism, properly practiced, is engaged. As certain other threads here attest to, many people see Buddhism as being about disengagement. But this is entirely misleading. If there is disengagement, it is only for the sake of being more fully engaged.
