I like cake. I have a good slice of it left. For the most part it's a pretty good cake. Okay it has a few nuts in it that leave a slightly bitter taste in my mouth but on the whole I think that they probably enhance my appreciation for the rest of it.
I certainly have no desire for someone to remove the nuts for me.
I equally have no desire for someone to show me how best to eat it.
To have someone embellish it with cream and a few fancy sprinkles would only be a distraction and to be honest throwing it away and leaving myself with an empty bowl doesn't appeal at all.
I like my cake just as it is.
And feel all the richer for it.
We all have the same slice of cake and what we do with it is entirely our own choosing.
But we can never forget that first taste......it is our only reference point.
