One of my professors debates an evangelical Christian in a local church. It was very cordial and an interesting exchange. Just thought I'd post it up for those of you who have time to kill; I'm not looking to start another atheism debate on this forum...but for anyone who wants to discuss the contents of the video, I'd be more than happy to participate.
There are like 14 additional parts to this one, including a Q/A from the audience at the end. I think the first few minutes or so were cut out (I did not record this, so don't look at this guy's other videos and assume it's me haha), so you don't get to see my professor's opening remarks...but it was a very good opening, pleading for openmindedness and peace between theists and non-theists.
Given the audience was, for the most part, evangelical christians inside an evangelical church, I think the philosophical arguments from the atheism side are not as deep as they could be; I am well aware of Dr. Ramsey's philosophical positions against theism are and I thought it unfortunate he was not able to employ them.
My personal opinion about his opponent was that he was a very intelligent and genuine man who whole-heartedly believes what he is debating, but I just don't see much philosophy in his "arguments" and I ultimately believe that true debate is impossible concerning this topic.
A further disclaimer: parts of the debate seem to have been edited out either intentionally or unintentionally, so I would be happy to fill in the holes if you happen to notice them.
Anyway, enjoy the videos if you have time to kill.
