I thought you might like to know that thebigview.com celebrates its 10th birthday this month. Allow me to take this opportunity to say thanks to the readers for the overwhelmingly positive feedback I have received so far. Also a big thank you to the forum members for making this a friendly place of inspired debate.

Thebigview.com started out in 1998 as a pet project when my then company was involved in creating web sites. It was the result of several years of personal philosophical debate on the Usenet and on private bulletin boards. Back then I had the idea of putting together what I learned into a succinct presentation. I also wanted to produce an easy-to-read introduction to Buddhism.

At the same time, the website was a playground for me to experiment with technologies such as Flash and PHP server side programming, which were still new at the time. The Internet was in its early days and there weren't too many philosophy and Buddhism websites around. Also, I didn't have any small kids at the time and I was free to put as much time into creating content as I wanted. :)

There are still a number of ideas in my drawer. For example, I'd like to add a section about evolution theory, and a section on formal logic. Hopefully, there will be more time for me for writing once our kids go to school and once our building project is finished. I am optimistic.

Thanks for visiting thebigview.com and please come back!

Cheers, Thomas

Nice! As a celebration, I will use a smiley, something I rarely ever do. :) It's a great site. A section on formal logic sounds very cool, by the way.

May I just say, I have barely begun my exposure to your site... But, my excitement is immense! I cannot speak from an informed position (yet) of what all this site and forum offers but I am already confident in saying: thank you. The world needs this energy, this information, this conciseness. Even if only to be out there to balance the loads of crudeness amongst it. I sincerely look forward to spending time with these words and striving to soak up its essence.
