Thomas? Taeguk? Anyone?
I would like to change my name, as was arranged for common man.
Thank you.

Thanks, psych,
It's very simple. Alpha is pretentious and Michael is my name.
Using my real name is more open and honest.

Micha'el: From the Hebrew for "Who is like God?"
Traditionally, this is the challenge Michael put to Lucifer when the latter chose to rebel against God.
Wow, it's kind of weird how we're all analyzing your name!
Sorry if this seems awkward or strange!
I do think "Michael" is a beautiful name, though :)

Not at all, Taeguk, or should I call you Yin Yang?
I'm aware of the meaning, and Michael's position, but not aware that 'Who is like God?' was a question put by Michael to Lucifer. But if Michael means, 'Who is like God?' rather than 'Who is like God', then what was Michael's original name? Alpha?
I find there is something very powerful about Bibilical names. Had a great uncle called Caleb, very unpopular name amongst Roman Catholics, way too OT(as Iamjoseph would put it).

Hello again! :)
Michael, you wrote:

I quite agree with you! I think some of the most beautiful and powerful names come from the Bible. :)
I'm also quite struck by names that have Vedic origins! I'm very much in favor of "mythological" names. I think they're wondeful

Very interesting subject, Taeguk.
Our names have greater power than most people today realize. It is not without cause that so many cultures have elaborate belief systems regarding names. Our names give us power, continuety, culture, comfort, protection, our fathers and our mothers. Tell me a story, Daddy!!!
It is interesting that the powerless in our society nowadays have a propensity to take on powerless names, or names associated only with the fleeting power of one Mayfly, rather than choosing the deep and complex power of names of myth and saga.
What is the process that is causing people to detach from society without their being consciously aware of the nature of the choices they are making?
The walls of culture crumble, but what will that reveal?
