I am currently travelling in Thailand and I have only intermittent access to the Internet. Please accept my apologies if I cannot clean up the forums on time.

The long term solution would be installing a new board software. The current software that runs TBV is 4 years old and it is vulnerable. Invision Power Board 1.1.2 was the last free version before the project turned commercial. I think about using either Invision or vBulletin in future; both are commercial proprietary products.

However, this costs a few hundred dollars and 40-60 hours for the customisation, if done properly. I don't mind spending the money, but I have no time right now. So, there must be a medium-term solution.

The medium-term solution would be to have voluntary moderators who can help me deleting the spam. I will have to study the permission system whether it is possible to set this up. Any voluntaries? It should be members who have been on thebigview.com for some time.

Cheers, Thomas

Thanks Thomas I appreciate your reply and am envious that you are trekking Thailand. Long standing dream of mine to do so. I belong to another board that has volunteer moderators and they were selected well as you suggest, and it works very well. Enjoy your trip and have a safe return home. Sersta

I am no really trekking. I flew with my family to Bangkok to escape an acute environmental problem in Chiang Mai. The forests are burning and we have an unbearable amount of smog there.

Cheers, Thomas

Hi sorry for the late reply. Haven't checked this post in a while. I hope that the situation in Chiang Mai has gotten better. I hate hearing of forest fires. I hope you and your family are well and that you make / made it back home safely.

BTW did you find any moderators? It seems to have been relatively spam free as of late so something is working!

All my best regards,

Sersta
