It is a political thing.
In Thailand, the temples have become caretakers of considerable "revenue streams" from donations and this has attracted the attention of politicians. The quarrel about Somdet Phra Yanasamvara Suvaddhana Mahathera is about political influence. He is a figurehead.
There is a lot of bad governance in Thai temples. There is corruption.
The monkhood needs to wake up and realise that they cannot apply the old methods to run 21st century monasteries.
Even a monastery needs efficient management.

It is a political thing.
Which is stupid. I thought Buddhism was above that, but I guess I had forgotten that Buddhism is an organization around the religion, like every organized religion.
