Has anyone here explored the Holographic Universe and its implications on our Cosmological or Spiritual understandings?

There are several good articles and easy to find. Michael Talbot has done the most work on this subject as for as I know but it is a topic that bridges and challenges both our Religious and Scientific paradigms.

I don’t recall saying it was revolutionary. I did say it would question paradigms. I think it does that. While it is a concept that would seem to fit in quite comfortably with an understanding of Brahman that is not an understanding of most living in the Occident or by those with strong Scientific paradigms.

I don't know, I guess I believe that if we are thinking and evolving we are questioning our paradigms almost as second nature. I never really think of that as revolution. Revolution seems like a more abrasive transformation. Considering the possibility that all things may be contained in even the smallest of things does not cause me any friction. It seems more liberating to me, more of a lightness of thought without friction.
Grasshopper, we are only analyzing our words here now though and I would like to get more into the concept of the holographic universe instead. I think it goes along with some of the ideas expressed by Stan Tenen if you have read any of his work.

I personally like the idea. I've never really read anything about it, but I've heard about it and seen it on the front of a few science magazines. I think that it is incredibly possible that the universe is holographic in nature, perhaps even being a holographic reflection from somewhere else. I could be wrong, however, of course.

I wonder how movement works in the holographic universe.

Psyche, those are a couple of fascinating looking web sites. I particularly like the

site. It will take some time to explore its many opportunities. I think you can see how this whole concept challenges both our spiritual and physical understandings. While I am inescapably grounded in Western cultural thought patterns, I also have a very strong attraction to the Eastern as well. One of my favorite books is “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” by Robert Pirsig. If you have not read it, you should seek it out and do so.
You can get a taste for the Pirsig exploration of Quality by going to these links:

Pirsig creates a wonderful story in which he explores the idea that at one time Eastern and Western thought were one. Then he attempts to discover when they separated and became two identifiably different ways of thought.
There is also an even more mystical path that Carlos Castenada explores in his many books and I have found those fascinating and inspiring as well:

Still another paradigm challenging author is Daniel Quinn and his book, “Ishmael.” Here the challenge is not to think Eastern or Western, but more naturalistically and holistically.

Back to the holographic Universe
I think it is necessary to consider several different physics theories of dimensions to think about the dimensions of the holographic universe. Those are the concepts of String Theory and M-Theory.
M-Theory:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M_theory
String Theory:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_theory
Here we discover that even in the scientific world of quantum reality there exist many possible dimensions beyond the three of space and one of time that we understand best.
There is much more to consider here but for now this is too much to think about in a single sitting.

cool. (Probably western people close to nature had such thoughts.)

ofcourse thank you but I was making conversation. What kind of pictures did you have in mind?
sofar I couldn't find a complete explanation of the science behind holographs.
you saw that movie whatt the bleep? I also saw the movie the elegant universe. Nice to see things put together you know.

I think I've heard of David Bohm, that he was the Dalai Lama's close friend and correspondant. Was he a scientist?

I have heard of the holographic theory I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it, altho if I'm understanding it correctly it's basically saying that the universe is alot of maya.
