Well, yes, it is her life, but she is also apart of yours, and if she likes you then you should be able to discuss your issue with her. And it IS NOT BAD. My dad's dad drank and ignored him for his entire life, making him deeply depressed. To me, drinking is horrible. It makes you lose calm and rationality. And, if that is indeed what you think too, then don't think it's wrong to feel such things. Express them, talk to people about it, especially your girlfriend. She deserves it, as do you. :)

Will, maybe your girlfriend is merely drinking for the thrill of it, in which case she'll hopefully outgrow it. When my friends & I were underage we hung out in bars alot. We all had fake ID's, & we had our lushes- folx who were legal & we give them $ to go up to the bar & get our drinks for us. It was the whole thrill thing of doing something you're not supposed to be doing. Once we all got legal the thrill was gone, & our bar-hopping became drastically reduced as we moved on to other things.
Otoh, your girlfriend may already have a serious drinking problem- alcohol is a dangerous way to get your kicks- but only she can do something about it. You might want to check out Alateen (click here) (http://www.al-anon.org/alateen.html) It's a support program designed especially for teens who have a friend or family member with a drinking problem, & if there's a group in your area, they may be able to give you pointers on how to deal with your girflriend. Good Luck! :)

hello thanks for all the advice
scameter im glad theres someone that thinks the same way i do :)
sonrisa well it is a little odd she doesnt get a thrill from it and she doesnt do it much her family doesnt care and she gets it mostly from her brother which i think that might be a reason she does it?
but i talked to her for a long time last night like i do every night but i told her how much it hurts me and she has pretty much stoped for me :( but thats not a good feeling either i dont know i will work it out thanks for the advice i need to go i will post more later

hey drinking beautiful drinks is good the alcohol makes you fell good, but binge drinking or drinking for the alcohol i do not like. i think the problem is that when a country like the US has the legal drinking age at 21 means that young kids are going to start drinking at a younger age which leads to all sorts of problems. compared to a country such as Belgium where drinking alcoholic beverages is an art and a way of life, the drinking age is 16!. but when constraints are outrageous the product is likewise.
but as Scam said it is a part of her life and you might want to try and accept that. maybe talking about it with her would be good. what is cool about love is that the couple open their hearts to one another and talk. they are both rocks for each other in a raging life. and remember to smile :) oh and slow down take it easy and live beautifully

thank you smurf ur comments helped a lot
she drinks for the reasons u do we talked a lot again which leaves me kind of bummed out today but we came up with she trys to stop and i dont say another word ... but i think i might change that  i am going to accept it and tell her to do as she wishes and i will say another word but i think my problem is i have just seen too much horrible things come out of drinking the thought of it makes me sick but oh well guess i should just deal with it
but i want this whole stupid problem to end it ended up makes her lie to me :( because she didnt want me to be upset and mad at her i thought i was carring for her but it just made things worse so ya i will just drop it for good
thanks again

Sometimes when i reflect back on all the beer I drink, I feel ashamed.
Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery
and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they
might be out of work. Then their hopes and dreams would be shattered.
Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let
their dreams come true, than to be selfish and worry about my liver."
-- Jack Handy
I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the
morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.
--Frank Sinatra
An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time
with his fools.
--Ernest Hemingway
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.
--Henny Youngman
24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence?
--Stephen Wright
When we drink, we get drunk.
When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.
Sooooo, let's all get drunk and go to heaven!
-- Brian O'Rourke
Jokes apart, William, you said
i think my problem is i have just seen too much horrible things come out of drinking the thought of it makes me sick
thats the root of the problems. Just tell your girl that you love her the way she is. Only that you are upset of the outcome of heavy drinking.
And you said that she has reduced hers. And so lucky you that you got a wonderful understanding girlfriend. So dont worry. You will get over it soon...
Or else you could read some of the qoutes

No problem my friend Will. Just accept that you cannot hope to change her life, but merely to show her another possible choice for her. If you care about her enough to do that with that amount of effort, not saying that you do or do not merely "if". I hope i can be of help to you my friend, you have been there for me in the past and i hope to show the same to you. :)

:D thanks all of u but this problem is starting to worry me she knows i hate drinking and she said she doesnt drink that much and only for the good taste im afraid she might be lying she said she hates beer
but just 20 mins ago i was on the phone with her and she said somthing about she wanted a beer so bad and i said i thought u didnt like beer? she was silent for a few moments and then answered with they had other drinks there too (other drinkings meaning alcohol) and before this i just got done saying that if she does drink that she can still visit with me i wont be upset she said she would try to stop for me
but the new problem is her life is not easy she is very depressed person and i think she is a drunk she already lied about never getting drunk but she has a lot i dont mind the drinking for the taste or the drinking at all anymore but she as made a wall of lies which often happens with a lie so im upset and i need to talk to her to see if she is lying im not sure but it seems so but i am not upset and i am going to make that clear i just want the truth
but i dont blame her she has a reason why she lied but i would rather not discuse it
thanks again all
:Edit: the thoughts of this young beautiful smart wonder girl having to do somthing like this to get rid of ur problems so early in life it competely hurts me to tears :(

14th December 2005, 11:19 AM
You could change her. If its to you she comes when ever shes depressed, if its you her addiction is. You have to let her talk . talk about every single problem shes facing. And assure her that you are with her. Her problems are yours too. Now she knows that you love her, thats why she tellin you lies to keep you. But you have to know her problems better and provide support. Different people respond differently to same problems.

Well then there's really no need for me to post. I am glad that it's resolved for you my friend Will; but still, do not let her acceptence of her alcohol problem to change your view of alcoholism. If you dislike it then continue to dislike it; or evolve your views accordingly. But don't let anyone change your views. Keep your own identity. :)

*gasp* Will! How could you say this is pointless! It is by no means pointless in any affect. It is in you and thus in existence, and so is important. Very important. This board, hopefully, is one for friends to speculate and advise each other and themselves on various topics. Including ones about ourselves. Please, don't say bull like that. :)

Smurf
23rd December 2005, 06:03 AM
yes well perhaps when the disease was exposed to extreme temperatures it might die, and perhaps that disease that was eaten by generations ago and survived changed the genes to resist it in later years? This is why it is good for one's child to eat dirt and sand etc. builds up their immune system

Violent computer games may make people more likely to act aggressively, a study says.
Previous research has found people who play such games are more likely to be aggressive but some say this just shows violent people gravitate towards them.
But a team from the University of Missouri-Columbia said their study which monitored the brain activity of 39 game players suggests a causal link.
The findings were published on the New Scientist website.
The researchers measured a type of brain activity called the P300 response which reflects the emotional impact of an image.
The truth is there are many factors that can lead to violence, such as being withdrawn and isolated, so it is hard to say it is because of one thing
Professor David Buckingham, of the Institute of Education
When shown images of real-life violence, people who played violent video games were found to have a diminished response.
However, when the same group were shown other disturbing images such as dead animals or ill children they had a much more natural response.
When the game players were given the opportunity to punish a pretend opponent those with the greatest reduction in P300 meted out the severest punishments.
Psychologist Bruce Bartholow, the lead researcher of the study which will be published in full in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology later this year, said: "As far as I'm aware, this is the first study to show that exposure to violent games has effects on the brain that predict aggressive behaviour.
"People who play a lot of violent video games didn't see them as much different from neutral.
"They become desensitised. However, their responses are still normal for the non-violent negative scenes."
The findings will back up what many have argued over recent years with the growth in games with scenes of graphic violence.

i love them so much because you can go away from the world outside and place your mind into another thing, be yourself easily. i think? :D
scameter
14th January 2006, 03:03 AM
lol No think to it smurf. That's exactly the reason I do it, that and to be apart of the Star Wars universe, which I love. :) And, unfortunately, in Galaxies people are always talking about how WoW is taking over Galaxies. It's only propaganda, but unfortunately it makes me hate WoW immediately, even thought I've never even played it. And yes I agree psyche, that's how I use Galaxies alot. That, and things such as sword fighting when I can (which I wish was more often, if not constantly), debate if my mind as at least somewhat clear, and reading, particularly fantasy/sci-fi books and even more specifically, Star Wars novels, which I always have one I'm reading. :)
WilliamMckeehan
14th January 2006, 04:54 PM
i have heard galaxies was very good but then yes i hear a GOT about WoW ... i loved war craft 2 and war craft 3 when they were RTS platform but WoW came out and my friend got hooked i havent played it but i sat there and watched for hours  i guess it depends on what u like you wouldnt play a game about cars ... if u didnt like cars so people who want to be in a MMORPG and have fun might pick ether wow or galaxies ... what i have learned is games are games u dont have to like them all but theres no need to fight about it
scameter
15th January 2006, 11:32 AM
:P We're not fighting. Merely discussing. :) But, unfortunately, I think that WoW is rather normal, with it's same use of elves, dwarves, orcs, and similar entities as it's primary species, just as every other fantasy story has done since Tolkien's brilliant invention of them, oddly deriving them from mythology. Star Wars is entirely new and unique, even though it too is oddly heavily wrought from mythology :D, and I think it is unfortunate the amount of people on Galaxies who either know nothing about it and only play it for the sci-fi aspect of it, or who saw A New Hope (Episode 4) as a kid and then didn't see or read or think about any of the rest of it again, and thought well hey, I liked the first one so I'll play this, even though the game is heavily drawn from all the movies and Expanded Universe (the games, books, comics, etc. except the movies) and thus their experience will be only half-true. But, if they enjoy it, more power to them. :)
Wow, I sound very southern tonight. :D

no World of Warcraft is very complex, heaps of stuff going on there. and once you play it you will see it is not ordinary
because the graphics are so different from conventional elves dwarves etc. they are very warcraft 3 type. i could go on for hours. :D

The graphics may be different or better, but the concept of a fantastical world full of Elves, Dwarves, and such as that canon to fantasy is merely replicated in things such as that and EverQuest.

No problem smurf :) And, I personally like both of them myself. :D I think the Apple technology looks better though, more advanced. But, that's just me. :) And yes it is most likely mainly your ram midnight; I'd try to at least get the next level from yours, if not 1 GB. :)
