A.Einstein refused to reseach on atomic bombs but he accepted one millitary experiment. It was philadelphia project. The experiment was made in philadelphias dock. Small torpedo-boat called "Eljir" (sry if i typed wrong name of it) was electrificated using four powerful electromagnetic generators. Generatos were tunred on and suddently green fog appeared and ship gone from sights and radars even. When the stream was shut down ship appeared in the same place as it was, dock. Crew of the ship was like drunk and sick after this. Experiment was repeated. Bigger stream this time. Blue fog appeared this time and ship was gone again. It appeared few hundreds kilomtres away from the dock and when the stream was shut down again it appeared in the dock as it was. This time occurances was even worse. Crew became mad, two members of the crew gone at all ,few ppl burnt alive and some others, contrariwise, freezed to deaht as they would be sprinkled by azote.

Einstein got that this is even more dangerous ( imagine, ship cant be hited by torpedos, mines does no damage coz they dont work at all on electromagneted ship, it cant be seen in radars and comes from nowhere suddently strikes and gets back to its destination in few minutes) than an atomic bomb so he destroyed all the notes.

Crew died long time ago and even "Eljir" was destroyed in 1991, noone believed the crew coz they storieds was to amazing (said they were in other planets and saw aliens for example) and information is hiding nowadays from society( i wonder how much of that information left if its left at all). So noone knows what exactly happened in philadelphia ,1943 year on the east coast of USA.

Information from "Archipelag" and "Ŝvilgsnis".

Is it X-Files time again?

It's probably one of those hoaxes that circulated in the 50ties. Wartime communications and a beginning but incomplete public understanding of modern physics created the climate for this kind of tale. I think one can't give it much credence for two reasons. First, there is no evidence that corroborates the historical account. Second, the scientific line of reasoning is nonsensical. The kind of gravitational field required to bend light (the path of photons) and supposedly make things invisible would destroy any matter in its path.

By the way, last week a group of Thai people reported the sighting of an alien in a Chiang Rai ricefield. One of the farmers drew a picture of it. It looked like Tweety.

Dunderplates, ninny lobcocks, doddipol-joltheads, jobbernol goosecaps, and flabby gnat snappers of this world, unite!

Cheers, Thomas

I wouldn't call it a hoax per sé, Thomas. Intstead, I would say that the stories- & they are stories- about the Philadelphia Experiment are based on a single fact. That fact being that the Navy tried to do something with the Eldridge back in 1943 & due, as you say, to an incomplete understanding of physics, failed spectacularly (hence all the spectacular stories) & so the Navy covered it up. Had the Navy succeeded, that something, whatever it was, would of been hailed as some great scientific breakthrough & be common knowledge today.

The Govt over here does alot of nonsensical things. Frankly, I wouldn't put anything past the Govt.

ps, I loved The X Files I wish they hadn't cancelled it. :(
