sonrisa
22nd April 2005, 02:52 PM
The pope's an old fart
so that's to be expected
what's more important,

is his denouncing
other religions, even
other christian sects,

& liberation
theology, aka
empower the poor

so they can rise up
above poverty & live
better, fuller lives

he also makes light
of pedophile priests, sez it's
a media scam

will not consider
obvious solutions to
this priestly problem

these problems are but
just a few of the many
problems with this pope

the church will stagnate
possibly even wither
& die on the vine

in order to grow
change is inevitable
to thrive & survive

not just with churches
this is true of anything
real growth comes thru change

NeverMind
25th April 2005, 11:43 PM
religion to me
is an outdated concept
and a criminal

a pleasant idea
but ultimately untrue
its pie in the sky

mankind should be more
realistic in its goals
and its ideals

there is no savior
and while you are praying there
we are working hard

religion is too
intertwined in politics

All life is sacred.

A crocus, sprouting,
Wonder – Anticipation;
Whither shall I go?

Busy and sweating,
Prideful striving leads me on;
Too busy to care?

Flesh of flesh gives pause,
Adorned in riches, thinking;
Oh, what was the goal?

Failing flesh sits down,
Slowing in the final glow;
Does ice ever melt?

Thanks, glad you guys like 'em. Those actually are written about places I've been in California. Lots of great National Parks there. I grew up living no further than 20 minutes from the Southern California coastline. And even from there, during the winter you can be up in the snow within 90 minutes, or right in the Anza Borrego Desert or Joshua Tree National Park within about 3 hours.
