asheera,

Thank you for starting this thread. I read the web page by Osho, that you posted. It seems to bring a better understanding of one's self.
I think one must always try to be aware of their own image, and try to modify it, by ridding oneself of the faults you may find in your being. :) B) ;)

Asheera...... :D

Hey Rich, This writting is a wonderfull opportunity to understand ego/false self. It is my search. My "looking"..
I have yet to find the "real" self, as there seems soooo much of the center, defined by the outside, it may take some time to disgard. But I am quite sure the "real" must be there(although not "there") because the false seems to be everywhere else.
This "real" self is the "love" that I have been looking for. Thats why it is not a person, place, or thing. It may be what is left after.

Your thinking that me and Random and Asheera are the same person is like saying that everyone who speaks chinese must be the same person.

Hack, Who is that guy? I consider myself pretty open minded, but he even turns ME
off. (unless that is you, then nothing but love brother)

Thank you, fu*. Reread asheera's web site once again. This time more carefully than before, and by rereading message discovered that' me ' am my worst enemy.
Still, must not learn to hate myself.
Even though I quote the Old Testament from the Judea-Christian Bible:'Be still, and know that I am God', is good advice for me to listen/read more, to the thoughts being written, in the spirit that I am understanding to know myself better. :)

Changed avatar and gender too w/o going to Denmark. ;) :D

Echo of the Cedars

High above what the wind sang, the cedars echoed,
what shone on the snow peaks,
what spilled over the evening sky,
Who received this?
the one who extended his hands in prayer?
No.
It just descended into my offered heart,
It poured into my welcome tears.
It came unknown, unrecognised.

By means of all these and me
It brought itself to itself,
it entered itself
Alone where it is resplendent,
eyes are helplessly lowered,
Not only voice,
even the resonance of silence ceases there.

Sonrisa,

Speaking of long trips, I think asheera has gone to Australia to join Hack and share the same avatar; or it may be the other way around/vice versa :)

Best wishes to asheera and Fred. :)

my avatar is really me..
(so what!)

A good check on one's ego, is to count the number of times one draws the center of attraction to the self. On this specific post,
written by a person wishing not to advertise
the fact, it still ends up as talking about myself. When finished posting, count the number of underlines, confessed.

Scoring:
less than 5, very good. :D
6 to 10= fair to good. :)
11 to 15= you can do better
Over 15= what a bore.

Still, what are our alternatives?

Being completely devoid of our being, is not natural or true.

One must recognize, self as a person, I ; though, try not to over do it.

Human-beings need to communicate with one another, unless we prefer living as hermits.

Why am I writing this?

Felt need to communicate. :) ;)

You are right. I do hurt myself by doing that, even by admitting it.Analyze it as a ploy of attention from me to attract the attention of others to me. Wise to my tactics, they do not reply. How come you question me about it, Isn't my falsity evident?
Why not join with the others, for this post is not worthy of a response.

A man was walking down a road through a village,
And a young boy ran up to him and said,
“Look behind you! An elephant is following you!”
And the man said, “What elephant?”
What a foolish young boy, he thought.
“Oh no, that’s not an elephant.
That’s only my shadow following me.”

And he walked on down the road
Until he came to another village
Where an old man called out to him,
“What a beautiful elephant you have there!”
And the man said, “What elephant?”
The old man replied,
“That elephant which is following you!
It looks like such a valuable elephant to me.
If it is not yours, perhaps I will offer it some food,
And it will begin to follow me instead of you!”

So the man thought, “If this wise old man believes
This elephant is following me, it must be true.”
And the man looked behind him, where
before he thought he had seen only his shadow,
And there was a beautiful and valuable elephant.
“Oh yes,” the man said. “This is my elephant.”

Soon the man became a trader, carrying goods
From village to village on the back of the elephant.
As he became wealthy from this business,
the elephant became more and more important.
The man came to love the elephant greatly,
And he constantly looked back over his shoulder
To be sure the elephant was still following him.

One day he went to visit his mother-in-law
At her home, bringing the elephant along.
The old woman came from the kitchen,
Waving her hands, crying, “What is that
elephant doing in my living room?”
And the man said, “What living room?”

For the man could no longer see
anything but his valuable elephant!
Such is the mind, carrying everywhere
its most precious delusions!
