This site I found to be one of the most interesting sites I have ever witnessed on the Internet. Much to read there, and I have not read it all. Very dramatic.
Personal site of a Singaporean Buddhist
Very informative. If we choose to follow the Buddhadharma, "be sure that we follow the peerless Buddhadharma".

asheera,
What on earth does http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Ithaca/4886/cults.htm, have to do with what you replied? Something I am not aware of?
Is it relative to: Shoko Asahara  similar name in text, responsible for Tokyo subway fire in 1995? ;) similarity
to name asheera, though am not linking you to subway fire.
but, which name did you post by? Diana? or whom?

Thank you, Richie, there are some very interesting articles on that site. I liked the ones about Grandmaster Lu and Osho, two cases which I have studied previously. Regarding Shoko Asahara, that was a gas atack in 95, not a fire. The trial of Shoko Asahara lasted eight years and the verdict will probably be announced by Tokyo courts before the end of 2003.
I should add that hardly anyone would claim that Osho and Shoko represent Buddhism. Their association with Buddhism is quite superficial. Unfortunately, people in the Guru business find Buddhism and asocoiated traditions useful for borrowing ideas and expressions.
Cheers, Thomas

Never realized before, that in Buddhism, there are also odd ball sects . Thought that was mostly prevalent in Christianity. Now, I think no matter where one searches, they'll find it there.
Probably, the oddballitity of it all is, they think the same of us.
Still, any who deliberately inflicts harm on innocent people, are truly, the oddballs

"The wisdom of seeing others as equal to oneself is known as the Wisdom of Equanimity. Sharing the same Dharma epithet is the most outstanding hallmark of the True Buddha School, for the very meaning of this arrangement illustrates that the Root Guru is willing to prostrate to the incredible existence of sentient beings, who have the Inherent Buddha Nature.
Only through the cultivation of equanimity shall one attain `no hatred and no enmity`, and enter into the realm of `no thought`. Thus, one shall realize that `no thought is Buddha`. "

What concerns Grand master Sheng-yen Lu I'd be careful with the things he says. He seems to have a tendency to exaggerate as well as fit facts to his inner world. The title "grand master" and his website say it all. He certainly likes to decorate himself. Please have a look.
If this monk is not in the "holy business" (see J. Krishnamurti for definition of this term) I will eat my hat.

Thomas.
He is a monk in the true sense of the word.
Start eating. :)
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it -
even if I have said it - unless it agrees with your own reason and
your own common sense.

Uh, one more thing I have learned in years of talking to real and fake gurus. The possibility of someone being enlightened is normally inverse reciprocal to the number of claims made thereto.

When one goes up, the other goes equally down. and vice versa.

Sorry for the jargon. Inverse reciprocal means f(x) = c/x, whereas c is constant.

Sorry Thomas.
Math is not my forte.
The way I look at it is that everyone has their own path
and who's to say one is better or worse than the other.

Bertrand: YOU SHOULD HAVE A BEER WITH HIM!
That's an excellent suggestion, although I doubt that the occasion arises, because... he's a Buddhist monk and not allowed to drink beer. :(
What is your and Buddhafly's relationship with Master Lu, if I may ask?
Cheers, Thomas
