Chat Room?

Will we ever have a big view chat room?

Hi Ronagon,

I am looking into this possibility. The Invision board has a plugin chat software, which is Java-based. It seems that I would have to get a commercial license for Invision board in order to enable the plugin interface. I also have to look into the technical issues and the security issues that come with running Java software on this server. There may be other possibilities, such as hooking up to an existing chat server. We'll see...

I am not presently working on a chatroom, since it involves extra cost and time. I will consider it if thebigview.com attracts more users asking for such a feature.

I think a chatroom for this board would be very cool. I absolutely love the idea of chatting with some of you in real? time. I think it would well worth the trouble., Id contribute whatever if asked to.

as would i. i would love to see alot of the members here inaction in a chatroom. that would call for alot of continuous, flowing chat on topics usually taking longer to elaborate on in the discussion board.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a stable, small footprint, web-based, open-source chat software?

As you may have noticed this discussion is powered by Invision v.1.1.2 Unfortunately, the Invision Board does not have a chat feature, so the best solution would be to have a chat software that can utilise Invision's authentication system.

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

yes the yahoo one ... i havnt used it in ever :o

didnt enjoy the people on it much but if we had a bunch of thebigview.com users on it ... that would be a very interesting convosation :D

Huh?

Yahoo offers chat rooms at chat.yahoo.com and an IM application at messenger.yahoo.com, but they don't offer chat software that I can install on thebigview.com server, or did I miss anything?

unfortunately so if that is true. because i go on yahoo messenger alot, and the software for it is very good. you could try to contact yahoo it's self, Thomas. they might could sale the software for it to you. :)
